1 פני האל, מגע האדם: האיקונה בעולם הביזנטי Face of God, Touch of Man The Icon in the Byzantine World סמסטר ב', תשע"ד ד"ר אנסטסיה קשמן בחירה שיעור שעת קבלה של המרצה ומיקום: ביום של השיעור, בתיאום מראש. טלפון: דוא''ל: תיאור הקורס קורס זה יבחן את תופעת הערצת האיקונות אשר עומדת במרכזה של הדת הנוצרית האורתודוכסית. נלמד על ראשית התופעה בתרבות הנוצרית הקדומה. נעקוב אחר התמורות החשובות שחלו בה במהלך מאות השנים בתרבות הביזנטית והפוסט-ביזנטית מהבחינה הצורנית, הסגנונית והטכנית. נעמוד על הסיבות התיאולוגיות הרשמיות להערצת חפצי אמנות אלו ואף על דרכי הערצתם, הן בחלל הכנסייה והן על-ידי המאמין הפשוט. נתמקד במספר איקונות בעלת חשיבות מיוחדת לגבי הנוצרים האורתודוכסיים, וכן נבדוק האם נותרה האיקונה הביזנטית נחלתה של הנצרות המזרחית בלבד, או שמא היא מהווה גם חלק מן החוויה הדתית הקתולית. לבסוף, ננסה לבחון מה מקומה של האיקונה בעולמו של המאמין המודרני. הקורס כולל קריאת חובה באנגלית. הקורס יכלול סיורים בארץ. The course will examine the phenomenon of the veneration of icons. Production and veneration of icons stands at the very heart of the Christianity since the early Christian era and it continues to be so in Orthodox Christianity today. The course will highlight important milestones in the centuries-long history of icons in the Byzantine and Post-Byzantine culture. It will confront the formal theological background of image veneration with the ways icons are venerated by the simple believer. We shall analyze some of the technical and formal aspects of icon production. Special focus of the course will be the famous miracle working icons, familiar to every Orthodox believer. The course will question whether icon veneration is limited to the realm of Orthodox Christianity, or it spread to the Catholic world, as well. Finally, the place of icons in the religious experience of contemporary believers will be examined. The course is 1
